Get your literary thinking caps on! On May 1 catch Stanford’s Mohr Visiting Poet Anne Carson as she gives a rare reading from her selected works. The award-winning Canadian poet, essayist, and ancient Greek professor is best known for her 1998 verse novel Autobiography in Red, a story about a Greek myth. The reading is sponsored by the Creative Writing Program at Stanford University.

Anne Carson comes to Stanford University as its Spring 2013 Mohr Visiting Poet. The author has won numerous awards including the Lannan Award, Pushcart Prize, Guggenheim fellowship, and the MacArthur “Genius” Award.” This spring, Carson, who has a background in classical languages, comparative literature, and history, will also be teaching an undergraduate poetry course.
