Let Your Imagination Soar at the Hiller Aviation MuseumSince its public debut in June 1998, the Hiller Aviation Institute and Museum has been uniting aircraft aficionados with their first love: flying. The museum\'s ever-growing collection includes vintage and future aircraft, one-of-a-kind prototypes, photographic displays, and cutting-edge test models, beginning with helicopter pioneer Stanley Hiller Jr.\'s personal aircraft collection in the 1970s.
Now, this popular museum allows visitors\' minds to soar through its chronicled century-long history as well as glimpses into the future of air transportation. The 27,600-square-foot main gallery houses more than 40 aircraft, exhibits, and interactive displays. The overarching theme-celebrating the adventurous and innovative spirit of aviation pioneers-is evident throughout the collection as well.
Visit the 8,000-square-foot atrium for a glimpse at over a dozen large-scaled aircraft models. View a full-size replica of the Wright Brothers\' 1903 Flyer as well as the remains of the Thaden \"Argonaut.\" You\'ll also find a family lounge and a Restoration Shop, which allows you to witness the renovation process firsthand. Try your hand at flying using the museum\'s flight simulation software at the Flight Sim Zone.
Other highlights include models from NASA, McDonnell Douglas, Boeing Aircraft, Hiller Aircraft, and John J. Montgomery. You and the rest of the family will enjoy exploring this unique aviation museum, where inspiration takes flight-quite literally. Open from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. daily, the Hiller Aviation Museum is the perfect addition to your Palo Alto trip.
