7th Annual Edible Landscaping Tour
If you enjoy exploring creative landscapes, if you’re looking for ways to live in a more sustainable way, or if you’re looking for ideas for your own garden, take a look at the Palo Alto 7th Annual Edible Landscaping Tour. This self guided tour will take you through ten local, organic, edible gardens, and will give you the chance to talk to the people who created them. You’ll learn about fruit trees, chicken coops, bee hives, raised beds, greenhouses, drip irrigation, rainwater catchment systems, composting and much more. By the end, you’ll be a step closer to creating an organic and beautiful food source in your own garden!
Growing your own food is a great way to start living green, in addition to being very healthy and fulfilling. Learning about the actual practices surrounding sustainable gardening is vital to success, though, and this tour is a great start, providing both information and inspiration. It is organized by the Common Ground Garden Supply & Education Center, a non-profit ecology action project. You can buy tickets online, and check in at Common Ground the day of the tour, where you will pick up your map (including bike routes) and garden descriptions. The tour runs from 10:00am-4:00pm on Saturday, July 20, 2013, and tickets are $35. Proceeds from the event benefit Common Ground.
